  • What is UniMAP?

    UniMAP stands for Universiti Malaysia Perlis (formerly known as KUKUM) is the 17th university established in Malaysia aims to create highly skilled engineers to meet and support the country's industrial plan, as well as provide an alternative to students who are more inclined towards practical learning.

  • Who is the Vice Chancellor of UniMAP?

    The current Vice Chancellor of UniMAP is YBhg. Lt. Kol. Prof. Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli.

  • When was UniMAP established?

    On May 2nd 2002, KUKUM (UniMAP) started its operation at its temporary campus in Kubang Gajah, Arau Perlis. It and received 116 students on June 20th 2002.

  • Where is UniMAP located?

    The UniMAP permanent campus is in Pauh (1050 acres) an 300 acres in Sungai Chuchuh. Two school that has been operating in the permanent UniMAP campus, namely the School of Mechatronics Engineering and School of Manufacturing Engineering. The opening ceremony was held on 2nd November 2009.The event was officiated by the Vice-Chancellor of UniMAP and was attended by all UniMAP staff. Currently, UniMAP campus is distributed around Perlis.

    To ensure comfort and conducive environment for students, various basic facilities are provided by the university which is equal to all public universities in Malaysia. Among the facilities provided are lecture rooms/halls, teaching and research laboratories, examination halls, library, student centre, residential colleges, cafeterias, recreational centre, engineering centre, teaching factory, agrotechnology research station and various others.     As of 2014, the number of UniMAP alumni is 8960 people, while the number of UniMAP alumni working in various sectors is 7160 people.

    Percentage of marketability of UniMAP students is 71% (2006 - 2015) which covers various sectors.

  • How does teaching and learning being approached in UniMAP?

    The approach adopted in teaching and learning in UniMAP for Diploma and Bachelor's Degree comprised of theoretical and practical components. As UniMAP is an engineering university, the emphasis on teaching and learning is more towards pratical, such as in laboratory, Teaching Factory, E-Learning which expose students to the industry and provides opportunities for students to apply the knowledge gained efficiently and effectively.

    The approach of teaching and learning for Masters and Doctorate consist of various modes such as Research Mode, Mixed Mode and Coursework Mode. The approach adopted is more flexible and provide comfort for students to conduct research and coursework.

    Generally, all students affairs are managed by the Office of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) UniMAP. The recruitment of students and student affairs are managed by the Academic Division, Registry Department and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Office (Academic Affairs and International.

  • How does the university assist future UniMAP graduates to increase their expertise in order to compete in the job market?

    The university schedules various programmes periodically to increase the marketability of future UniMAP graduates, such as Career Talks & Career Fairs, industrial collaborations, industrial student visits, industrial training programme, industry involvement in curriculum development, soft skills and various others.

  • What are the specialities of UniMAP laboratories?

    UniMAP laboratories are equipped with modern equipment that is used for the purpose of learning. The facilities can be used even in the students first year of study. Some laboratories have already received recognition by the system as outlined in the MS 1722:2005 & OHSAS 18001:2007 & Laboratory Accreditation Scheme of Malaysia (SAMM) 17025: Health and Safety Operational Implementation Procedures for Laboratory and Equipment.   • How do students commute from one location to the other?

    UniMAP bus system is provided for students to commute from one location to another according to a schedule. Bus schedules can be found on the Home Page or UniMAP Student Portal. Students do not have to pay the cost each time you use the bus because the fare is included in the fees quoted at the beginning of the semester.

    almost all buses are equipped with an UniMAP Wi-Fi. Bicycle facilities are also provided in Pauh Putra Campus. This is a part of the UniMAP U-Cycle Project conducted under the initiative off UniMAP Sustainable Campus.
