About the Speaker
Christina Chase is a Lecturer at MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with a joint appointment in Mechanical Engineering. She co-founded the MIT Sports Lab in 2015 with Prof. Anette “Peko” Hosoi and continues to serve as its Managing Director. She was MIT’s first Entrepreneur in Residence at the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship, and has led and taught extensively in engineering and entrepreneurship, including one of MIT’s largest undergraduate entrepreneurship courses and the StartMIT bootcamp.
An entrepreneur since the age of 18, Christina has founded companies across industries, most recently serving as CEO and co-founder of the edtech startup Firehoze. She has worked with startups in hardware, healthcare IT, materials, and consumer electronics, and has also driven innovation in established companies such as Labsphere, where she led revenue growth and secured key patents. She has been recognized as one of the “25 Most Influential Women in the Boston Tech Community” and among Mashable’s “15 People Shaping Boston’s Tech Scene.”
Beyond academia and entrepreneurship, Christina is an accomplished athlete, having trained at the US Olympic Training Center as a cyclist, summited six Colorado 14-ers, taught skiing, and now actively pursues kiteboarding.
