Vinton G. Cerf is Google's Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist, where he helps shape global internet policy and its growth. Known as one of the "Fathers of the Internet," he co-designed the TCP/IP protocols and internet architecture. Cerf has held leadership roles at MCI, the Corporation for National Research Initiatives, DARPA, and Stanford University. He was chairman of ICANN from 2000-2007 and has been a Visiting Scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory since 1998. Cerf also served as president of the Internet Society from 1992-1995. He is a Foreign Member of the Royal Society and the Swedish Academy of Engineering, and a fellow of IEEE, ACM, and several other prestigious organizations. Cerf has received many awards, including the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, the National Medal of Technology, and the ACM Turing Award. He was named one of People magazine’s "25 Most Intriguing People" in 1994.
