Pro-Chancellor, Universiti Malaysia Perlis
Her Royal Highness Hajah Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah binti Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail was born on February 10, 1995 (9 Ramadan 1415 Hijrah) at Pantai Hospital, Kuala Lumpur.
Her Royal Highness is the eldest daughter of His Royal Highness the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, Chancellor of UniMAP, and Her Royal Highness the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, Pro-Chancellor of UniMAP.
From a young age, Her Royal Highness was raised in a nurturing family environment centered on love, knowledge, and noble values. The structured and wise upbringing provided by her parents shaped her into a person of refined character, grace, and broad perspective.
While her father served as the Area Manager for Malaysia Airlines in Switzerland, Austria, and Central Europe, Her Royal Highness had the opportunity to study at the Inter-Community School of Zurich in Zumikon, Switzerland.
This international experience, combined with her travels to numerous countries, has shaped her into a forward-thinking, globally minded individual while remaining firmly rooted in Eastern traditions and values.
Upon entering her teenage years, Her Royal Highness began her primary education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Seri Indera, Kangar, before moving to Uplands International School in Penang. She later pursued foundation studies at Trinity College Melbourne. Subsequently, she continued her higher education at the University of Melbourne, Australia, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in International Politics and Anthropology.
True to the saying ‘the apple does not fall far from the tree’, her leadership qualities were evident during her time abroad. Actively involved in leadership and cultural activities, Her Royal Highness was appointed Head of Cultural Affairs for the UMNO Australia Melbourne Club (KUAM). She also played a key role in initiating MUZIKA MELBOURNE, a cultural platform that elevated Malaysian arts and identity on the international stage.
Upon completing her studies, Her Royal Highness developed a strong interest in fashion and entrepreneurship. This passion led to the establishment of her fashion brand, KHATREENA. The brand features women's apparel themed around elegance in simplicity and beauty rooted in Islamic and Malay cultural values.
The KHATREENA collections are a staple at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW). In 2022, the brand embarked on a special collaboration with Moccona Coffee, merging fine craftsmanship with a philosophy of balanced modern living, symbolising the taste and personality of the contemporary woman.
Beyond her achievements in entrepreneurship and fashion design, Her Royal Highness demonstrates deep concern and commitment to social development and community welfare, particularly for asnaf groups and underprivileged communities.
Guided by the philosophy that every seed of knowledge can inspire meaningful change, Her Royal Highness established the Seeds of Knowledge programme under the KHATREENA brand.
Through Seeds of Knowledge, which focuses on community development, individuals are encouraged to become agents of goodness by spreading knowledge, nurturing empathy, and strengthening communal bonds.
In line with its slogan, “Planting knowledge, nurturing the soul, and harvesting kindness,” the initiative organises activities such as talk sessions, interactive workshops, exhibitions, and collaborations with inspirational figures and organisations across various fields. These efforts aim to cultivate values, culture, entrepreneurship, humanity, and a balanced lifestyle of mind and heart.
For Her Royal Highness, Seeds of Knowledge, KHATREENA represents a journey that unites heart, intellect, and action in building a more knowledgeable and compassionate society.
In addition, Her Royal Highness serves as a Committee Member of the Zakat Development and Empowerment Initiative under the Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Istiadat Melayu Perlis (MAIPs), and previously served as a Board Member of the Akademi Transformasi Asnaf MAIPs (ATAM).
Through these platforms, Her Royal Highness actively plans and supports initiatives to empower asnaf communities in Perlis through education, skills training, and entrepreneurship, enabling them to become resilient, competitive, and self-reliant in building dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
Among her notable contributions is her involvement in Projek DiRaja Program Transformasi Kampung Seberang Ramai Kuala Perlis, initiated under the guidance of her father as President of MAIPs and with the consent of His Royal Highness the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail. The project was part of the MAIPs Time Capsule 2025 initiative during the MAIPs Centennial Celebration on 17 July 2020 at Istana Arau.
Her Royal Highness spearheaded collaborations with corporate partners to develop an integrated community development model focused on asnaf settlements.
The project has since become a landmark initiative of MAIPs, significantly improving the quality of life of the local community, particularly in tourism.
To date, Kampung Seberang Ramai Kuala Perlis, popularly known as Kampung Warna Warni, receives an average of 5,000 visitors monthly.
In recognition of her dedication, commitment, and passion for advancing human development, Her Royal Highness was recently appointed Royal Patron of the Humanitarian Development Foundation (HDF), effective 15 October 2025.
Under her patronage, the foundation focuses on Six (6) Key Pillars: Education, Economy, Health, Welfare, Leadership, and Nation-Building, all aimed at enhancing social development and addressing human rights issues.
The personality of Her Royal Highness Sharifah Khatreena Nuraniah reflects that of an educated, visionary, creative, and people-oriented young woman who aspires to use knowledge and innovation as bridges to uplift society.
